About the Course

This course meets the accepted practices in Safety, Health, and Environmental Training (ANSI/ASSE Z490.1) and OSHA 29 CFR 1910 General Industry and 1926 Construction, Fall Protection Standards.   

 

Course Duration: 8 – 24 hours  

 

1 Instructor: 10 Maximum participants

  1. Technical Rider – Rigging Design or Drawing from touring production 

  2. Theatre grid layout if at a residential showroom 

  3. Work method (assessing and identifying the risk associated with rigging at specific venues and what to do in case of equipment failure)   

  4. Note: take weather into consideration if rigging outside 

  5.  Health and Safety – First aid, emergency evacuation, ambulance, hospital  

  6.  

  7. Venue Engineer – review drawings & weights hanging over head per point 

  8. Rescue (Chain of Command & assignment per riggers responsibility – includes equipment and personal) DON’T WORK WITH OUT A RESCUE PLAN!! 

  9. Chalk marks – Learn to read! 

  10. Ground Rigger Duties: Hardware and general safety for both High and Ground Rigger 

  11. Communication protocol
